Exciting Collaboration with Imperial College London
SmartSolo is proud to participate in and support a NERC CASE PhD project led by @Michele Paulatto at Imperial College London. As an industrial partner, we are thrilled to contribute to this important research endeavor.
Project Overview
This project aims to explore the feasibility of combining Teleseismic Full Waveform Inversion (TSFWI) with dense arrays of seismic nodes. The goal is to improve imaging techniques for active volcanoes. This innovative approach has the potential to enhance our understanding of volcanic activity, which is crucial for safety and environmental monitoring.
Benefits of the Approach
As the modelling frequencies and station array density increase, this technique offers a cost-effective and non-invasive way to image shallower geological structures. This includes critical areas such as geothermal resources and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) sites. The ability to monitor these structures effectively can lead to significant advancements in energy resource management and environmental protection.
Join a Leading Research Team
If you have a background in geophysics, geology, computational sciences, or applied mathematics, this is a fantastic opportunity for you. The project invites individuals interested in computational seismology to join one of the world’s leading research teams. It is an excellent chance to delve into an emerging field that is making a real impact in geoscience.
